Some research papers are available for download via the Australian Online Repository for Trainee Anaesthetists (AORTA). website The research team have an ongoing interest in performance monitoring, healthcare quality and safety and aspects of medical ethics to ensure patients receive the most appropriate care and have the best outcomes before, during and after surgery. 

The Department of Anaesthesia, Perioperative Medicine & Pain Management is a unit within University Hospital Geelong and is associated with the Deakin University Medical School. The anaesthetists at Barwon Health have a minimum of six years training in anaesthesia, pain management, resuscitation and management of medical emergencies.  

The Anaesthetics team have an ongoing interest in performance monitoring, healthcare quality & safety, and all aspects of medical ethics to ensure patients receive the most appropriate care and have the best outcomes before, during and after surgery.

The research team currently comprises Specialist Anaesthetists, three Research Nurses, one Research Fellow and one PhD candidate.

Dr Andrew Marriott actively supervises PhD and Master students in the department and is affiliated with Deakin University.

The Research Unit of the Department of Anaesthesia, Perioperative and Pain Medicine is actively recruiting to a number of major international and national clinical trials.

The Department of Anaesthesia, Perioperative Medicine & Pain Management is a Unit within Barwon Health providing anaesthesia services for all elective and emergency surgery.
